Amity Batra

Amity Batra is Co-Editor at Nettle Literary Magazine. Originally from India and now based in Leeds, she is currently completing her MA in Creative Writing at the University of Leeds, having previously studied English at Amity University, Punjab. She has a background in copy editing, proofreading, and content strategy, including work developed through the Leeds Global Industry Project.

Her own writing spans fiction, poetry, and screenwriting. Her poetry collection Peeping Inside, published by The Social Tape Publication in 2022, received a Literary Award in 2023. Her short story The Boy with the Cocoon appears in an anthology published by Authorspress in 2024, and her short film Muted was released the same year.

Amity came to editorial work through a genuine love of storytelling and the kind of writing that stays with you. She is drawn to voices that take risks and stories that feel necessary.
