Yvonne Aore

Reader

Yvonne Aore is a Kenyan fiction writer whose work explores intimacy, ritual, power, and the unseen forces that shape ordinary lives. She is particularly interested in psychological tension, speculative realism, and stories that sit at the intersection of the spiritual, the political, and the deeply personal. Her writing often examines belief systems, memory, desire, and moral ambiguity, with a focus on African contexts rendered without exoticism. Her work has appeared in Brittle Paper, The Kalahari Review, and Underground Bookshelf, among others. Yvonne is drawn to prose that is emotionally precise, formally attentive, and willing to take risks while remaining grounded in character and voice. As a reader, she is interested in narratives that resist easy answers and engage complexity with care and imagination. She is currently working on longer fiction while continuing to publish short stories.
